The 4-H Office encourages each 4-H Club to have two 4-H representatives and two adults that participate in this group. The council meets every other month for a total of six times a year, in person. This group plans 4-H activities and events for the county. Please notify the 4-H office if you have any items you would like included on the agenda two weeks before the scheduled meeting.


Council Committee Responsibilities

Any 4-H member may participate on a Pitt County 4-H Council Committee. Participation is not limited to only Council Representatives

Interested in serving in a committee role?

Committees can help the 4-H club function effectively and involve everyone. Serving on a committee can give members a chance to “grow into” responsibility, which will help them develop leadership skills!

Community Service 

This committee will work to identify community needs and presents ideas for service projects. This group helps plan and organize regular council or group community service projects.

Committee Chair: President – Morgan H.

Programs 

This committee will help find speakers, plans field trips, help plan parties and fun educational events for the county 4-H program.

Committee Chairs: V. President and Recreation – Morgan W. & Jade C.

Membership and Promotion

This committee helps recruit new 4-H members, including planning membership events like project fairs or welcome events.

Committee Chairs: Secretary and Reporter: Kendall H. and Jamey H.


Interested in becoming a 4-H County Council Officer?

Officer Duties:

President – The President shall preside at all meetings of the 4-H County Council and shall perform other duties that pertain to this office. The president will serve as the chairperson for the Leadership Committee. A vacancy in the office of president shall be filled by the vice president for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Vice-President – The vice-president will preside when the president is absent, or when requested to do so by the president. The vice-president will assist the president in other duties as needed or assigned. The vice president will serve as the chairperson of the Community Service Committee.

Secretary – The Secretary will record the minutes and attendance at each County Council Meeting. The minutes will be read at each meeting. The secretary will assist the president in other duties as needed or assigned.

 Reporter – The Reporter will submit information, articles, and photos of County Council activities to the 4-H office on a regular basis, so that they can be included in the newsletter and website, create press releases, coordinate news coverage, and assist in efforts to promote 4- H County Council and Pitt County 4-H activities. The reporter will serve as the chairperson for the Hospitality Committee.

 Recreation Leader – Serves as chairman of the recreation committee. Seeks to learn the varied recreational interests of the club’s members.Leads the recreation committee in planning recreation programs. Appoints a committee member to lead the recreation program for each meeting.Works closely with the refreshment committee.
