What is a 4-H Volunteer?
Volunteers are the key to success in the Pitt County 4-H program. Whether you’re interested in starting a club and becoming a club leader or just have a few hours to invest in upcoming 4-H programs, we have challenging and fun positions for adults and teens who want to make a difference.
Level 1 Volunteers are volunteers who work with youth in any unsupervised capacity. Level 1 volunteers are required to complete a NC State University background check. Examples: Club leaders, coaches, project or camp volunteers.
Level 2 volunteers have limited/supervised youth interaction. Roles: 4-H Judges, Summer Fun Camp helper, Afterschool Club helper. Requirements: Complete Minor's Regulation Training but does not require background screening. Must be supervised.
Required Trainings
All Level 1 and Level 2 volunteers must complete the following trainings:
- Working with Minors ( In 4-H Online).
- Ages and Stages
- Experiential Learning
- Model 4-H Essential Elements
- Youth Adult Partnership
Level 1 Volunteers must complete a background check and screening from N.C. State University.
