Collapse ▲On November 4th, 2022 the Pitt County All-Stars 4-H Club gathered at GK Cafe & Catering in Greenville, North Carolina to celebrate quite the achievement. 25 years as a Pitt County 4-H Club! The 25th Anniversary Celebration was entitled “It’s a Family Affair… Since 1997” and that it was. The current club president, Isaiah Posey, resided over the meeting with assistant from the other youth officers, Nakevian Atkinson, Thomas Speight, Tsaleach Posey, and Morgan Harvey. While family and friends from across the generations attended and phoned in from afar. Special guests included current county council president Nhaturie Atkinson, the first and second club presidents from 1997/98 Pierre Westmoreland and Logan Council, as well as the first female club president,Valencia Ann Speight. Club Leader and Founder Mildred Council provided guests with the History of the 4-H Club and allowed time for alumni responses
and experiences within the clubs 25 years of service. Morgan Harvey, club secretary introduced the Keynote speaker for the evening, Pitt County All-Stars Alumni, Glenda Carlton, PharmD. Glenda spoke of her career and education as a Pharmacist and spoke at length on how her time in 4-H shaped her life and highlighted the importance of public speaking and the benefits that can be gains from active participation in the 4-H club program. Mrs. Council and the club expressed appreciation and special thanks to the following Leaders and Alumni: Estelle A. Mack, Tonya A. Reid, Marquis A. Reid (03/31/1991 – 04/13/2016), Nathaniel I. Reid, Ann Speight, Walter Council, Angela Johnson, Christopher Mack-Gonzalez, Lauretta Lewis, Pastor Jennette Boone, Mary Blount Williams, Thomas Council, B.J. Miles, Kyra Miles, Gera Miles, Dr. Rhea Miles, Bill and Marian Booth, Luella Wills, Ricky and Bernita Demery, Bobby Hardy, Logan Council, Pierre Westmoreland, Cincere Neal, Sydnee Neal, and The Raleigh Graduate Chapter Swing Phi Social Fellowship, Inc. The evening ended as the guest shared a meal and happy memories, with parents, friends and youth alike reminiscing on the past and looking forward to a bright new future.
