Ag Disaster Crop Loss Program Application Due May 4th 2025

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture has alerted North Carolina Cooperative Extension that through The Disaster Recovery Act of 2025 – Part 1 (S.L. 2025), that the North Carolina General Assembly instated the Agricultural Disaster Crop Loss Program. This is a one-time assistance program for agricultural producers who had verifiable losses from any of 2024’s weather events. These weather events include Hurricane Helene, drought, Tropical Storm Debby, and Potential Cyclone 8. The General Assembly allocated almost $311 million for this program, $200 million verifiable losses from Hurricane Helene in the affected area and about $111 million will be for verifiable losses from all other agricultural disasters in 2024.

Pitt County Cooperative Extension is available to assist in the application process online. If you plan on visiting the office for application assistance, it is asked you call (252)-902-1704 to schedule an appointment. You will need to bring your Form 578 Producer Print or 2024 crop report, an IRS Form NC Sub W-9 form, and be prepared to sign paper to be uploaded into the application. The online form is available at https://www.ncagr.gov/agdisaster.

The application is open to submit online from Tuesday April 1st to Sunday May 4th. Appointments are available Tuesday, April 1st to Friday May 2nd, 2025, 8:00am-4:30pm at the Agriculture Center, located at 403 Government Circle, Greenville, NC, 27857. Each appointment will take about 30 minutes to complete.
