North Carolina 4-H is proud to provide educators of all kinds with high-quality, research-based teaching materials. We specialize in translating cutting-edge university research in science, engineering, technology, math, agriculture, health, and civic engagement.
Lesson plans and STEM units feature hands-on, experiential learning and an interdisciplinary approach to real-world problems for elementary, middle, and high school-aged youth.
Our materials are designed by content area experts from North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University and undergo a rigorous vetting process, including field tests and revisions are aligned to North Carolina and National K-12 educational standards.
The 4-H School Embryology Program provides classrooms with all the necessary equipment and curriculum to hatch fertile eggs, where one ticket equals one classroom kit. To maximize participation, grade levels with eight or more classes are encouraged to use a "Sharing is Caring" approach by sharing one incubator between two rooms.
Sign up hereThe 4-H Pumpkin Program provides classrooms with seeds to begin growing in August, followed by an in-depth fall visit from a 4-H expert to explore life cycles, pumpkin varieties, and a seasonal treat. One ticket equals one classroom kit, and while daily garden maintenance is the school’s responsibility, 4-H staff remains available to assist with technical growing support as needed.

As they observe the transition from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly, students engage with grade-specific curriculum focused on insect biology, life cycles, and the vital role of pollinators in our ecosystem.
The 4-H School Garden Project provides regional seeds, planting guides, and curriculum for your outdoor classroom, where one ticket equals one kit and grade levels with 8+ classes are encouraged to share. While daily garden maintenance is the school's responsibility, the 4-H office will assist as needed with technical support and troubleshooting to ensure a successful harvest.
The Mooving Milk program offers a hands-on journey from calf to dairy cow, featuring an exciting in-person visit from a 4-H expert and a life-sized demonstration cow for a realistic milking experience. Designed for Kindergarten through Third Grade, this curriculum teaches students about the dairy industry and nutrition through roleplay, literacy, and science activities.
