Question:

What do calcium levels look like on peanuts? Already had 1500 pounds but a lot of rain. Samples taken at 2 inch depth. What’s my parameters?

Jordan Answer:

For Virginia market types there is no clear relationship between soil calcium and yield. It’s just too variable in terms of predicting a response and that is why we recommend gypsum on all Virginia types and at least half of the Virginia rate in jumbo runners. When did the 1500 pounds go out? I recommend re-applying half of the rate if applied when peanuts are small (early June) and there is a big rainfall event shortly after application. 5 inches in a few days. Outside of this, I think you have done all you can to get calcium in place.
