We have limited information on compatibility of multiple products in the tank. We do have a good estimate of how a single herbicide might interact with a single fungicide. Many years ago we worked on compatibility of up to five components in the tank at the same time. But the data is a little dated now because of the products we evaluated. In those studies what we found was that there was generally one product that might cause the problem (less weed control, for example) but there was not a total collapse in control when we kept adding products to the mixture. For example, when we added product B to product A control might have gone down from 100% control to 70% control. Adding product C and D to A and B did not reduce control to a greater degree. Below 70%. This explanation is beginning to read like an algebra problem, but the key message is that if we know the potential impact of a single product that tends to carry through when we have multiple products in the tank. Identifying the key product that can affect performance is the important step in figuring out compatibility. I will say that in all of our work we use small bottles and cans and we are able to shake and mix products thoroughly. That is not the case for farm-level sprayers. That is why when you begin putting more than two things in the tank you need to make sure products do not settle.
