Question:

Is there harm in applying Apogee 7 days apart? Got some really growth Bailey peanuts. Just got the first application on late last week.

Jordan Answer:

I would not do that. You should be good for 2 weeks.

Question:

Will it hurt the peanuts or just won’t give them additional control?

Jordan Answer:

I have never looked at that close of an interval with respect to peanut tolerance. If the interval is tight you run the risk of a lot of regrowth later in the season. It can get expensive. I know the label mentions not to have 3 sprays too close together.

Jordan Answer:

I know you know this but Apogee will not shrink peanuts, so if the first application went out late the peanuts will be robust for the rest of the year. But Apogee can help keep them from being a lot bigger.

Follow up:

One field grew a lot faster than all the rest. Was just wondering if it would hold better with a tighter interval. After understanding that each app is good for 2 weeks will keep at 2 week interval.

Jordan:

Include both nitrogen and crop oil for best results.

Follow up:

Using N and surfactant. So crop oil is better? It burns more.

Jordan:

I have never seen crop oil burn with Apogee and nitrogen. I know herbicide injury can increase with crop oil but that is not the case with a PGR like Apogee. With that said, N is the key, so as long as you have that in place you will get a positive response. I have never looked at 80/20 surfactant with Apogee.

Follow up:

Every time we follow Apogee applied with crop oil, we see spotting that looks like leaf spot. Sometimes so many you think there is a leaf spot epidemic.

Jordan:

Don’t use crop oil. I just don’t see that. N is the key.
