The Business of Organic

August 29, 2018 | 12 – 1 p.m. | Virtual

Speaker: Mark Dempsey, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA)

The market for certified organic farm products in North Carolina has grown by almost 300% over the last decade, but if you’re not in the organics business, you may have many questions:

  • What does it mean to be certified organic?
  • What are the opportunities and challenges in this market?
  • Is it very expensive?
  • What is the ‘transitional organic’ certification?

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) has a dynamic organic production education program. Mark Dempsey is one of two Farm Services Coordinators at CFSA, and he’ll lead the webinar on the business of organic certification. You will learn about CFSA, State and Federal programs that support farmers seeking to enter this dynamic market.
