Join Us for 2019 NC Farm School Down East!
After a successful school in 2018 with students from eight counties, NC Farm School Down East is looking for its next students wanting to develop a business plan for their farm. If you are farming or ready to farm but need coaching to develop your business plan, become a student at the 2019 NC Farm School Down East.
Nine evening sessions will emphasize planning, risk management, finance and marketing and will be held at the Pitt County Agriculture Center. Activities will directly relate to your farm’s business plan. Sessions will be taught by an NC State specialist and N.C. Cooperative Extension agents from the region. There will be five optional field days throughout the regional where students will meet local farmers and agriculture professionals to see first hand how farm management works. Classes will run from January through May.
In addition to classes and field days, the specialist will meet students on their farm to consult about their business enterprise. Students will get to know the Cooperative Extension agents and resources that pertain to their specific farm operations. These Extension agents will provide ongoing support after Farm School is over. Check here for a recent NC Farm School graduate’s account of how the school impacted his business.
Applications for farm school are due by January 3, 2019. Cost is $399 for an individual and $599 for a couple. An interest meeting will be held in Greenville on November 8, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Pitt County Ag Center, 403 Government Circle in Greenville.
