Registration for the Come to the Table Conference is now open!
We hope you will join us on March 16th, 2017 at the Durham Convention Center for the statewide sixth convening of the conference.
We look forward to gathering with community members, faith leaders, farmers, farmworkers, gardeners, hunger relief agencies, educators, health professionals, and many more groups for a variety of workshops, presentations, and strategy sessions on relieving hunger and strengthening local and sustainable agriculture.
At the conference, we will explore both the history and present state of our food system: how and why food is produced and distributed, and how faith communities can support both farmers and consumers. As always, the conference will present many opportunities for meeting and networking with others, strengthening relationships, learning about resources, and sharing skills. You won’t want to miss it!
We are pleased to welcome Jason Brown as this year’s keynote speaker. Jason left a successful career as a lineman in the NFL to become a farmer in eastern North Carolina. He and his wife Dr. Tay Brown have dedicated themselves to sharing the teachings of Jesus and aiding in local hunger relief efforts. Their farm, First Fruits Farm, has made national headlines for its donation of hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to those in need. Thousands of volunteers have lent helping hands in their harvest and gleaning events. In their work with Wisdom for Life Ministries and First Fruits Farm, Jason and his wife Tay are demonstrating how to live a life of purpose and how to promote community development through agriculture. >> Read Jason’s full bio
Our workshop tracks will center on theology and food, foundational skills and knowledge for community development, disaster hunger relief, policy, farmer voices, and much more!
Be an early bird and register by February 2nd for a discounted ticket price. Registration closes on February 28th.
After you register today, be sure to check out our event page here, and please share it with others to help us spread the word! We look forward to gathering around the table with you this March.
